Update 1/23: Tink is doing great in her foster home! She is pretty solid on hand signals now, is crate trained, and does great with kids and other dogs. Her foster mom says she is a pleasure to have around!

Here's what we know about Tink so far...
Tink is a special needs dog and needs someone that has experience or understands dogs that are deaf. She does seem to be able to hear a few certain tones (she knows when her foster family’s macaw is yelling at her, and could hear one of the machines beeping at the vet's office), but she cannot hear voices. She does know a few basic hand signals and we will work on more once she's healed up from her spay, as well as her manners on a leash. She does seem to have some mild seasonal allergies, which respond well to benadryl.

She is approx 3 years. Good with both male and female dogs (all sizes), although she does best with dogs who have some patience as she doesn't always have the best understanding of doggy body language, although she's learning fast.

She's not showing much interest in toys yet, aside from tug toys like ropes, but loves playing with the other dogs. She's pretty moderate energy, and her house manners are not bad. Totally housebroken and very clear about asking to go out when she needs to.

Has lived with kids and would do fine with them again. Her foster family has not tested her with cats yet, but thinks she would probably do ok with dog-savvy cats

Update: 2/2015

Tink is a fairly independent dog. She is good with other dogs, but does not seek them out as playmates. However, she can be a little protective of her people around other dogs, but she takes corrections well. Tink loves to snuggle on the couch. She has bursts of energy, but 80% of the time she is a couch potato. Tink is an all-around easy dog. Tink is doing better with toys; she’s able to keep herself easily entertined. Tink's favorite toys right now are ropes, kongs/rubber toys for tough chewers, and she will destroy soft/stuffed toys.

As of now, Tink is proficient in hand signals demonstrating “sit,” “go to crate,” and “no/down.” Tink is currently working on “stay” and her leash work.
