Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Buster Foundation!

Please make sure to complete the application information on the following page using as much detail as possible, and please make sure to include the contact information for TWO PERSONAL REFERENCES, one of which we prefer NOT be a family member.  Also please note that you will be asked to enter your name and contact information at the top of the form twice if you have never completed an application with us before.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • The Buster Foundation does NOT operate a shelter or kennel.  All of our dogs are placed in foster home care and we do not have a formal kennel or shelter building where volunteers can go work.  We do however have a primary foster home where a large number of our dogs live, and where many of our volunteers routinely engage in activities such as bathing/grooming, training and socialization, crate/yard clean-up, etc.  We are in particular need of volunteers to help with these activities in the late mornings and afternoons on the weekdays, as well as some Saturdays.
  • All of our volunteers are expected to adhere to our organization's philosophy and conduct with pet ownership.  Meaning that if you have a cat and/or dog at home, they must be spayed/neutered and they must not have been trained using abusive and/or aggression-promoting techniques in order for you to volunteer with us.
  • The most productive type of Buster volunteer is one who is constantly working for the benefit of our group and our dogs, even when they're not on the volunteering clock.  Being a friendly, responsible dog owner in public; working to promote a positive pit bull image and a better understanding of the breed and dog behavior; and helping recruit both monetary support and especially more potential foster homes and adoptive homes are all efforts that have the biggest impact on the success of our group and the lives of our dogs.
  • As a representative of our organization, it is important to have some knowledge of pit bull type dogs, including the breed history and the various organizations working on their behalf today.  At the bottom of our Adoption Information page, there is a short list of informational sites.  We strongly encourage you to begin educating yourself about the breed by reviewing some of this information.
Thank you again for your interest and time and we look forward to reviewing your application and making your part of the family!
