Update from Valentina's foster mom on 8/10/13.....
Are you in need of some serious snuggles? Then Valentina may be the pup for you!  She loves with her whole heart and will be by your side always. When given the time to warm up, she does get along with most other pups. A properly matched male who can take her roughhousing preferred. Unfortunately she has not known too many children and doesn't know what to think of them. She loves kitties and hopes to have one befriend her as well one day! But as far as the definition of "companion" this girl's picture is in the dictionary. She's a sweetheart and she needs a home where she will fit like a glove. Will you give her a chance?

Valentina is a sweet older pup, who unfortunately made her way to Buster thanks to BSL. Her family was devastated to lose her, but knew we would find her a wonderful home. 

What can I say about my dear, sweet Valentina.... She is a lover. Her kisses will put all else to shame. Her goal is to be as close as she can possibly be, her face smashed against yours preferred. She is a 52 pound lap puppy, dives under covers at night and enjoys your company as much as you enjoy hers. Lonliness with Val is impossible. Being a puppy still, her energy level is on the high end. All she wants is to love the cats but her excitement often gets her a slap in the face, which doesn't phase her in the least. She plays with the other dogs constantly and she enjoys it on the rough side but is equally capable of being submissive as well as dominant. She'll just need a friend that can take on her strength! When first meeting another pup, she is guarded. It takes a few minutes to a few hours but she always seems to lower her guard once she realizes that the other pup isn't a threat. Then the playing ensues! I would recommend a trial period just so you can get to know the real Valentina as she often doesn't give off the best representation of herself at first. Once realaxed, you can see it in her eyes, pure sap! Her food aggression is non-existant as she'd rather follow me around than eat. On the contrary, she is treat motivated and is eager to learn new tricks. Her love of ice cubes is huge and most recently so is her love of snow! I've never seen any hesitation around people. The first time I ever saw her approach a child, she gave him an enormous kiss. She walks right into her crate when asked but is so smart she is able to escape within minutes. It has been a challenge trying to keep the girl contained but we've almost got a system down. Her destructiveness seems to lie only with being left in the house alone. When with us, she never seems to take interest in anything but dedicated dog toys, which is strange for any puppy! So a good strong crate is really the best solution. Once she grows out of her puppy stage, as it seems EVERY puppy I've had does, she'll be PERFECT! Valentina is looking for her forever home!
