4/07 Buster welcomes baby Layla to our gang! We accepted Layla sight unseen from a local animal shelter who believed her to be a "pit puppy". Born approximately 3/10/07, she was a "stray" left at an animal control facility in a box wrapped in a knit cap. No note was left as to what had happened to her momma or any of her littlermates - if there were any. I couldn't believe that at the time Buster took her in she was only 11 days old and had been nursing like a trooper from her bottle - AND she had no problems using the bathroom on her own, much to our amazement.! Her little eyes had just began to open. Unsure as to "what" mix she is, we've decided to call her a "BullShihz" since she's being reared with a litter of baby Shih Tzu's and three pitbull puppies. Honestly the only thing "pitbull" about her is her black brindle coat and her will to live! Someone remind me to ask for a picture BEFORE I agree to take on another puppy sight unseen. Layla is growing into a little whatever she's meant to be. Still no idea as to her breed mix. She is a happy healthy puppy that runs and plays with all her foster siblings. She's quite full of herself and can now get up the stairs like the bigger kids. She's eating well on her own but still likes her bottle even though she doesn't need it. She's also learned how to bark and howl when she wants her way. She can keep up with the best of them too considering she's one of the smallest ones left.
