HI! I'm Maximus, and as you can see, I'm one hefty boy! Joanie nicknamed me "Sumo Puppy" because I'm an absolute BEEFCAKE!
I'm a very happy guy, I LOVE to play, but I also love to give kisses and cuddle. I am a little spunky, so I will need a home with some bully experience to make sure I become the best boy I can be!
Here is my story....
A woman from a small breed rescue called us to ask for help. A little pit bull puppy was dropped off in her driveway while she was at work. When she arrived home, she barely saw him in time to avoid running him over! Of course she scooped him up, and did everything she could to see if he had an owner, that maybe he just wandered out of his yard. She was unable to find anyone that wanted to claim him. She took him to the vet to make sure he was healthy and to get his first puppy shots, but knew that she was unequipped to handle a rambunctious, large breed puppy with all of her little rescue dogs at home. He did very well with the small dogs, but would simply outgrow their company too quickly. The Buster Foundation was happy to answer their request to take on this cute little guy (haha, little... yeah right!).
Update: 8/26/09
Max was seen by a specialist today. He suspects that the head bobble is "idiopathic" - he noted it is currently a condition the average person really wouldn't notice. Upon his advice, we will be waiting for 2-3 months before allowing Max to be adopted so as to be more confident that he will not develop additional problems.

If you are interested in adopting Maximus, please first read our adoption policy and complete an application. These are found on this website, under the tab âAnimalsâ, then âAdoption Infoâ.
Too often we have had people set up appointments for a meet and greet only to be no-shows. All our dogs are in foster homes, and we at Buster appreciate that our foster families' and volunteers' time is precious. Therefore we will not set up meet and greets without first receiving a completed application.
We trust you understand and respect our decision to enforce this policy.
