Straight out of Detroit comes another beautiful dog in need of a new home! A Buster foster mom spotted Shuri across from her home and after speaking to some other neighbors she learned the pup was abandoned. Well, our foster mom did what any Buster volunteer would do, grabbed a leash scooped her up, and got her inside and safe. Her new name is Shuri, and besides some fleas and being underweight, she is decent shape. She is still getting used to being inside and has been calm, quiet, and easy going. She gets nervous when left alone outside, as we would expect. However, she is VERY good in her crate and relaxes quickly. She appears to ignore other dogs; however, we won’t know for sure until she has a chance to settle down. Her foster mom thinks she will be medium to high energy level and will be around 80 pounds, once she gets back to her proper weight. For that reason, we recommend no young kids.
Notes from her Foster mom:
Shuri is an amazing girl! She loves every person she meets. She's great in the house, has never chewed something or gotten into things. She is fully housebroken and is great in her crate with things to keep her mind busy.
This high energy girl would love an active home. Her favorite thing is to play and run, but when playtime is over she is the best cuddler! She even knows to wait for an invitation to get on the couch. Shuri is incredibly smart and learns really quickly. Check out the video of her starting to learn agility. This is less than a week into practice! More obstacles are coming soon, we'll add more videos as she learns. In addition to agility, Shuri is learning obedience and can "sit", "down", "wait", "stay", "off", "drop", and "leave it". She walks well on a leash, but does react to other animals. She would be great for an experienced owner that loves to teach their dog new things as she is eager to please.
Unfortunately, before Shuri was abandoned by her family on the streets in Detroit, it seems like she had a pretty sheltered life. As a young girl gets very excited in new environments. We are working on exposing her to different situations and teaching her appropriate reactions, but she will need continual practice. She's learning the joy of different toys and to be a happy confident dog in various situations. :)
Shuri would prefer a home without small animals, but may do well with a stable male dog with very slow introductions. She can't wait to meet with her perfect forever family!
Shuri's birthday is November 2019
