About Rocket

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn with White
  • Current Age: 6 Years (best estimate)
Meet Rocket! He’s a total meathead. He’s full of energy and smiles. He’s 2-3 years old and housebroken. He knows the sit and shake paw commands. He will also give you a kiss if you ask.

He is a big goof that will keep you laughing. Rocket is a super active, very strong dog looking for an active family to have adventures with. He is a play and run all day, chew a bone on the couch with his favorite people at night kind of guy.  Due to how unaware he is of his size we recomend he live with older children.

Rocket likes other dogs but his enthusiasm can sometimes be a bit much for other dogs at first. He would love to have an easygoing fun-loving canine friend, but he would also do fine as an only pet. Rocket goes bananas for squirrels and rabbits. So fun to chase! That kind of dog behavior can sometimes be the same for cats, so Rocket is looking for a cat free home. He will bowl over younger kids, so not recommend.

Rocket LOVES toys, especially tennis balls. He does a good job fetching if you keep 2 balls going. He loves to roll around in the grass on his back with them in his mouth. But, he’s a super chewer and breaks the balls pretty quick, so he can’t have them unattended. He does great with nylabones and other tough toys.

Whatever he’s doing, he’s all in. When he’s waiting for you to throw the ball it’s hard for him to slow down to sit, but if you insist, he does. He needs a family that will not fall for his beauty and charm, a family that will be loving but also firm with him. He knows how to be a very good dog, but he will push the envelope if you let him. Because of his strength and enthusiasm, he can be a challenge to walk on a leash. His foster family is working with him on this, and he has a special weighted back pack he wears on his adventures. This helps wear him out a little faster so they can work on his leash skills.

Rocket takes treats very gently. He likes to be clean! He will avoid puddles and mud in the yard. He is crate trained with no whining, no barking. He keeps his kennel clean and has not chewed his bedding
