Tex was a starved 3-4 year old stray that came to Genesee County Animal Control December 5, 2019. Even though he was heartworm positive, obviously hungry and in pain, he still allowed handlers to touch and hold him, using a soft mouth for treats and looking for love. Fast forward 4 months: he’s gained about 20lbs (currently 74lbs), completed his final heartworm injections and still such a sweetie! Tex is pretty indifferent to dogs and kids… he’ll play for a minute, then looks to relax most of the day. He gets along with all kinds of dogs - male, female, really big or kinda puny, very energetic or not at all. He sleeps with 1 human and 2 senior male pups. Still not sure about cats, though he shows no prey drive in his foster home. No barrier, toy, food or treat aggression at all. Could use some hardcore leash training - he can be quite a puller. He does very well with a fenced yard and dog door. Tex exhibits some separation anxiety, but that should abate with time and security. Potty-trained, and while not afraid of the crate, he would rather spend his hours near you! Tex is ready for a safe and secure home, and a family to call his own."
