Hi! My name is "Petey", and I'm looking for my forever home. My humans are a Military family, and unfortunately, Camp Lejeune in NC has banned Pit bulls and mixes. I can't understand it because my humans made sure I was raised to be a dog no one would judge.
I went to two different puppy schools, so I could be a very polite and well behaved dog! I won't be able to join them on their journey with the United States Marine Corp, but hopefully I can please a new "forever" family with all my tricks (that I do without being bribed with food!).
I am a large dog, but could stand to lose a few pounds. I do well on a leash, but occasionally need a reminder not to pull. I do not jump, but given my size, I would do best in a home with older children.
I love people, and do not enjoy being left alone for long periods of time. My vet told me I have separation anxiety, and I need to be crated while you are away. Do not feel bad, I love my crate - I enjoy storing my toys and chews there, and prefer sleeping in there. I do not like being outside by myself for too long, but I will watch you play in the yard all day!
I've never had dog roommates, so I may take a minute or two to warm up to a new friend, but I do well with most dogs once introduced. I was raised with two cats, so I get along well with dog-friendly cats.
I am neutered, up-to-date on all my shots, and have had flea, tick, and heart worm preventative medication since birth - other than the extra weight, my vet says I'm in GREAT shape! I can't wait to meet my forever family, I'll be practicing all my tricks!

Too often we have had people set up appointments for a meet and greet only to be no-shows. All our dogs are in foster homes, and we at Buster appreciate that our foster families' and volunteers' time is precious, therefore we will not set up meet and greets without first receiving a completed application.
We trust you understand and respect our decision to enforce this policy.
