Update 1/24:   Tia had ACL surgery in early 2015 and will not be available for adoption until her recovery is over (in April/May of 2015). However, applications are being accepted**

From Tia’s foster mom:

“I’m not sure if it’s just her age but Tia really lives up to her name. Tia, which in Spanish means “aunt” is perfect for her. There’s a calmness about her. A stillness as she looks into my eyes. She’s a calming presence in the house, and her sole desire is to be next to someone at all times, even if it means pushing herself off the comfy couch with her sore leg (the reason for her recent surgery) to lie on the hard kitchen floor next to me.

Tia is very patient and adaptable. She will roughhouse with my younger, male dog, or sleep next to my little cousin (11 years old) while we’re watching movies on the couch. While she will bark briefly when someone comes to the door, she does not bark at the dogs next door (who will bark at her constantly) and Tia stops barking as soon as guests come in. She also doesn’t jump on guests which is a huge plus.

I think Tia would thrive in a variety of homes. Because of her surgery, maybe no small children who will crawl on her, but she is fantastic with kids and I think would be great in a family. I consider Tia a low to medium energy dog. She does well with male and female dogs. While I’ve not seen her with a cat, I’ve seen her in a home with a cat (who was hiding the entire time) and she didn’t seem to care. She’s also not too focused on bunnies in the backyard.

I hope someone will see the same gentle heart I see in this big girl and give her a chance to live out the rest of her life being spoiled in exactly the way she deserves!”

On top of the stress of being returned after 5 years from her home, Tia (formerly knows as Trysta) needs to have extensive knee surgery in both of her knees. She has a torn ACL and a luxating patella in her worst knee and can not even walk without medication.  Please help spread the word so we can find this girl a forever home, but also so we can fix her knee before she does.

Trysta was adopted from Buster as a puppy - due to unfortunate circumstances and the failing health of her owner of 5 years, she has been brought back to us, once again looking for a forever family.  As a puppy, a police officer in Lansing found Trysta running around lost - from there she was placed in our care until she was adopted.

Trysta has grown into a beautiful girl!  She knows basic commands and we are working on her leash manners.

Check back soon as we post more photos, and learn more about the dog Trysta has become.
